Extinction SAGE II for PROMOTE

April 14, 2009 - The SAGE II extinction data records are now accessible PROMOTE users.

All SAGE II events have been reanalysed in order to detect and remove the cloud compound. The analysis of dubious events with uncertain presence of clouds required more time than initially previewed. In order to make data records avalaible for our PROMOTE users we finally have decided to already open the acces to all profiles without pending dubious events.

Security and progress

April 08, 2009 - Some security problem has been detected an the site is now secured

We have SAGE III 3.0!

January 17, 2008 - SAGE III data records are now accessible BIRA-IASB users.

The PROMOTE part of the website is ready

December 13, 2007 - PROMOTE users have now full access to the functionalities that are meant for them. Simply log in from the Home page with your PROMOTE account and you will be directed to a specific page, which is accessible on the top menu: Products => PROMOTE users.

The HALOE dataset is in!

November 2, 2007 - BIRA-IASB users can now have access to the last version of the original dataset of HALOE. You-know-who is currently working on the SAGE III dataset, after which we will concentrate on producing binned profiles for the available experiments.

SAM II and the POAM's are available

September 28, 2007 - Authorized users (BIRA-IASB) can now retrieve the original datasets (events) of the lastests versions of SAM II and POAM II on Products => Products by experiment, as well as versions 3.0 and 4.0 of POAM III.

'Products by experiment' is operational

September 4, 2007 - Most of the website section Products by Experiment' is now achieved. Clicking on an experiment (recall that only SAGE II is available at present) will give a number of physical parameters, versions, and the choice between all events or averaged quantities (average over each month, longitude, and bins of latitude).

After the first choice, you will be directed to the next step, i.e. specifying the physical location you're interested in, as well as the desired output - either two types of ascii files or plots (only for monthly zonal means).

Graph plotting is available for binned data

August 31, 2007 - You can now plot 1D and 2D (2D color plots) graphs for monthly zonal means in Products => Products by experiment => Experiment => Monthly Zonal Means (see the navigation menu above).

All our SAGE II data products are in the database

June 12, 2007 - The original dataset of the Stratospheric Aerosol and Gas Experiment (SAGE II) has been stored in the database; more precisely, we propose versions 6.00 and 6.20. For the first of these versions, we have applied several of our inversion algorithms to retrieve aerosol number density, mode width, and median radius from the well-known lognormal distribution. These parameters have been computed for each event, and the averages are also available. This is also the case for the original dataset.

Notice that the SAGE II dataset contains values of aerosol extinction at four spectral channels, number density for ozone, water vapor and nitrogen dioxide, as well as NMC temperature, air density, and pressure data. More details about SAGE II are available on Products by experiment => SAGE II.
